After her first visit to Tucson, she immediately connected to the town’s vibrant spirit and felt it was the natural place for her and her partner, Dr. Mahabir to create their dream plastic surgery practice.
Dr. Kurtovic has a passion for wellness and believes in the power of merging elements of eastern and western medicine to awaken the body’s innate wisdom to heal. Every year she dedicates time to expanding her own wellness journey, and most recently completed 120 hours of training in Craniosacral Work with a Biodynamic Perspective with Heidi Wilson in Tucson, AZ. In her free time, Dr. Kurtovic loves spending time with her family and watching her daughter grow and discover joy in the simple things in life. She enjoys connecting with the stillness in nature and practices Iyengar yoga and mindfulness as much as possible.

Education and Training
Dr. Kurtovic grew up in southern California and graduated with honors from the University of California, Los Angeles in physiological sciences. Upon earning her medical degree in New York, she completed a decade of rigorous post-graduate surgical training in top-ranking residency and fellowship programs across North America.
She did her general surgery residency at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, at which time she developed her interest in the artistry of plastic surgery. Dr. Kurtovic was inspired by the ability of plastic surgeons to transform and restore the human body and she chose to pursue further specialization in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Duke University. After that, she completed two additional fellowships in microsurgery and cosmetic surgery in Canada.

Dr. Kurtovic’s Specialties
Dr. Kurtovic’s practice has a focus on cosmetic breast surgery and breast reconstruction as well as mommy makeover, tummy tuck and body contouring surgery. She combines advanced techniques in breast reconstruction and cosmetic surgery, enabling her to restore and build a breast mound that also feels soft and looks beautiful outside of clothing. “Today’s standards of breast reconstruction are much higher than ever before. Women want and deserve a balanced, soft, realistic result when they see their breasts in the nude,” says Dr. Kurtovic. “I feel privileged to be in practice in a time with advanced techniques in microsurgery and improved implant technology, so I can provide my patients with the safest, most natural results possible,” she adds.
Inspired by her mother’s breast cancer journey, Dr. Kurtovic has a unique awareness of and connection to both her restorative and cosmetic breast patients. She is committed to providing them the space they need to begin healing, both physically and emotionally. As a new mother herself, she brings a deeper understanding to the mind, body and soul changes that happen after having children. She hopes to be a source of inspiration and support to her patients who are considering surgery to empower themselves through these changes.
