Body contouring plastic surgery for men is different and our plastic surgeons know how to get the results you are looking for.  There are anatomic differences that must be accounted for.  For men, the problem areas tend to be the abdomen and love handles as opposed to women, who tend to focus on the hips and thighs.  The surgical plan for men will often focus on enhancing their muscular appearing physiques and narrowing the waistline. Abdominal liposuction often enhanced with “Vaser” for skin tightening can have a profound effect. For more troublesome areas and in particular excess skin, a tummy tuck can also be custom designed for the male physique.

Excess fat and loose skin can affect your body after significant weight loss or aging. You can address stubborn fat, loose skin, and even damaged muscles with a male tummy tuck procedure at Tucson Plastic Surgery in Arizona.

What is a Tummy Tuck?

A men’s tummy tuck or abdominoplasty procedure is a surgery to help remove excess body fat and loose skin from the abdominal area. This surgical treatment targets areas of stubborn body fat that can resist diet and exercise. In cases where lifestyle changes do not make enough of a difference, an abdominoplasty can help men restore their bodies to a more sculpted and leaner look. Tummy tuck procedures can restore weakened abdominal muscles and balance the overall proportion of your abdomen with the rest of your body. Sagging and loose skin can occur for various reasons, including aging, genetics, weight changes, and previous surgery. This procedure can help you achieve the slimmed and smoothed abdomen you desire.

Who is a Good Candidate for a Tummy Tuck?

Men who have followed a healthy diet and exercise regimen but still see the effects of stubborn fat or loose skin can benefit from a tummy tuck. These individuals may notice excess fat protruding from the abdomen, lack of muscle definition, and excess skin due to weight loss. Candidates for a tummy tuck must be near their ideal weight and should have maintained it for at least six months. Patients must be in good overall health, non-smokers, and have realistic expectations of what the surgery can accomplish. The best way to determine your candidacy for men’s tummy tuck surgery is through a private consultation with one of our expert surgeons at Tucson Plastic Surgery in Arizona.

BEFORE & AFTER GALLERY

Tummy Tuck Surgery

Tummy tuck surgery can vary depending on your concerns, body, and treatment goals. The three primary forms of tummy tuck surgery offered at Tucson Plastic Surgery include a mini-tummy tuck, a full tummy tuck, and an extended tummy tuck.

Mini-Tummy Tuck

The mini tummy tuck procedure involves addressing loose skin and stretch marks below the belly button. One incision is made above the pubic area where the loose skin is removed, and abdominal muscles are tightened.

Full Tummy Tuck

The full tummy tuck procedure is intended for candidates wishing to address excess body fat and skin above and below the belly button. During this surgery, a horizontal incision is made above the pubic area where excess fat is removed, and the abdominal muscles are tightened. An incision can also be made around the naval to address excess skin above the belly button.

Extended Tummy Tuck

Men wishing to address hanging and drooping skin in their abdomen can opt for an extended tummy tuck. This procedure involves a longer incision where loose skin is removed from the abdomen and flanks, and the abdominal muscles are tightened.

Recovery Process

Tummy Tuck Recovery

2- 4 weeks

Your tummy tuck recovery will occur on an outpatient basis. Temporary side effects after your surgery can include soreness, bruising, and swelling. Your doctor may place drains in the surgical site to release excess fluid or blood after surgery. You should take time off from work for 2-4 weeks while recovering. Lifting heavy objects and stretching the abdomen should be avoided during healing. Your results from surgery will be long-lasting; however, it is essential to maintain a healthy lifestyle to maintain your intended results.
